Georgia Barber License

Georgia Barber License

Anyone who wants to trim and style men’s and boys’ hair and beards will have to get a Georgia Barber License. The process of getting qualified is not that easy. However, by following some basic steps you will, for sure, obtain a permit.

The Georgia Barber Training Program

Making a career as a men’s hairstylist requires focus and dedication. First and foremost, you must apply for and finish 1500 hours of training. You must present your documents to the State Board of Barbers.

What is included in the course? The training is divided into two sections: theory and clinical services. The committee requires courses in Hair and Scalp treatments, Hairstyling techniques, Styling and Cutting, Permanent waving, Relaxing, and Chemical application, and Clinical services.

Like, Florida, Montana, and other states of the US,  Georgia also offers an apprenticeship program for professionals. The main criteria are that the applicant must be at least 16 years old. The next stages are to pay a $45 charge, complete 3000 hours of training, and have at least 18 months of experience.

Pass the exam

When you’ve finished your course, you’ll need to schedule two licensure exams: The National Written Exam and the Practical Exam. These both are computer-based written tests. The testing includes hair cutting, blow-dry styling, disorders, and straight razor shaving.

To register at the server, send a letter to PSI Services from the school/college where you studied. After that, you may book an examination by downloading and familiarizing yourself with the information bulletin, as well as paying $147.

The first examination lasts 85 minutes, after which the committee scores you on how well you perform the general activities: such as setting up, shaving, haircutting, etc.

The National Written Test lasts 90 minutes and tests your understanding of general caring, disorders, and scientific ideas. You can pass the state examination in Atlanta, Macon, and Tifton.
