Georgia Plumbing License

A Georgia plumbing license is a document that legally allows working as a plumber. It is significant to obtain this record to prove your familiarity with several requirements.

Getting a Plumbing License

There are two main steps that plumbers should follow to get a certificate. Those stages are:

• Apply for an apprenticeship or
• Attend a trade school

To become an apprentice plumber, no registration or certificate is needed. As an apprentice or a student in a trade school, you can gain a three-year experience and apply for your Journeyman qualification. Two years later, you will be qualified to apply for a Master Plumber license.

General Requirements

There are several general requirements to be eligible to apply. You must:

• Be at least 18 years old.
• Have the physical ability to complete different tasks.
• Have a high school diploma or GED (General Educational Development).
• Submit a complete application.
• Pass a qualifying examination with a score of at least 70%.

Other requirements also include requirements regarding work experience, education, and fees. The application fee is $30. The Journeyman exam costs $223. In addition, the price of the Master exam is $267.

If you fail the exam twice, a review course is required for taking the third reexamination.

Online Classes

Georgia Plumbing Institute offers both offline and online classes. The training can last from 7.5 days to 5 weeks depending on the course chosen. The fee varies between $1,200 and $2,500. Plumbing Permit in Georgia

You need three years to get a qualification for the Journeyman exam. To qualify for the Master’s exam, you need five years total. During this time, you will be able to work, gain experience and earn money.

The applications are processed within 15 working days unless there are unexpected issues in the process.

Reciprocity States

The state of Georgia does not have a mutual agreement with any other state to recognize each other’s plumbing authorization.

About the Renewal

To keep the permit up to date, you should renew it every two years. You should pay a fee for it.  For Journeyman, it is $35 (in case of late renewal $45), and for Masters, it is $75 ( in case of late renewal $100). You will be reminded about the renewal 8 weeks prior to the deadline.

In general, the expiration date is November 30 of even-numbered years. You must be able to show proof of continuing education to apply for a renewal. Continuing education (at least 4 hours a year) can include attending lectures or instructions related to the profession.
